Grand Opening of CAPCS Theatre on January 30, 2010

On Saturday, January 30th come see our latest attraction…the Grand Opening of the “Eckstine and Ellington Theatre” at the Dorothy I Height Community Academy Public Charter Schools (CAPCS)’ Amos 3 Campus, 1400 First Street, NW, Washington, DC 20011. This event will showcase the availability of rental space available at the campus such as the 850 seat state of the art theatre, meeting rooms, computer labs, multi-purpose rooms, expo rooms, and conference rooms.

The festivities will be hosted by Shelia Stewart from Radio One. There will also be special guest appearances by Angelia Robinson and the Diva of Comedy, Cassandra Archer.

  1. This is shameful, that the school is now renting out every open space it can. Apparently MBC is not able to pay the bills, and after being open for a year and a half, CAPCS’s enrollment is nowhere near where it should be, even as they try to attract pre-K students to compensate. We were led to believe that a charter school had come to the community, not a convention center open to the highest bidder.

  2. I agree, they should run a school, and if they can’t, they should turn the space over to someone who will (like KIPP). Also, advertising the “HUGE PARKING LOTS” makes it pretty obvious that they are mostly trying to reach people outside the community.
